Views and insights

I. The Vision: Inner Landscapes

My artistic practice navigates the tension between dream, memory, and psychological fragmentation. In my works, I create visual spaces where figures, symbols, and architectural elements serve as projection surfaces for inner states. My focus lies in making mental transitions, fractures, and states of suspension visible, capturing the fluid essence of the human psyche.

II. Visual Language: Ambivalence and Order

The visual worlds I create are characterized by a deliberate ambivalence. They exist on the threshold between figuration and dissolution, between the familiar and the unsettling. Recurring motifs—mask-like faces, archetypal figures, or fragmented bodies—function as visual markers of an internal attempt to establish order. They reference collective visual traditions as well as personal experience, without confining them to a single reading.

III. The Method: Layering and Process

Formally, I work predominantly with acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. The combination of these diverse techniques allows me to keep the visual planes open and maintain a dynamic creative process. Layers, superimpositions, and deliberate blurring are integral elements of my work; they reflect an understanding of identity which I perceive as processual, multi-layered, and in a state of constant flux.

IV. The Context: Contemporary Surrealism

Conceptually, I draw upon psychological and art-historical contexts, translating them into a modern form. I utilize surrealist strategies not merely as stylistic citations, but as a methodological tool to transfer the unconscious and the ineffable into a contemporary visual language. My works are intended as an invitation: they are open spaces for the viewer’s own perception, association, and projection.
